Guys, Yahoo reports that Airmail is bouncing some of my email, claiming that
SpamCop lists one of the Yahoo email servers as being a bad actor.

SpamCop dissents, saying it has NOT listed the server in question.

The server IP address is: 66.94.237.47

Could you take a look at the Airmail incoming mail receivers and see if you can
figure out why they would be bouncing mail from Yahoo, with an erroneous SpamCop
notification?

Alternative possibility. Historically, I have used Airmail dialup. Recently, I
started using a laptop, on the UT Austin wireless net. Could the SpamCopping
somehow be happening somewhere in the UT network infrastructure between me and
the Airmail incoming servers? This seems unlikely at first glance.

What did Spamcop say? There's a large difference between "this
server is not currently listed" (you can look this up on their web
site, and the server in question ISN'T currently listed), and "this
server has NEVER been listed" (I don't know how you'd find that
out, and I doubt it's never been listed.)

I think this server was listed for a good portion of Thursday and
for at least a couple of hours on several other days this week.

Spamcop listings may not last for very long (for example, a few
hours), especially since they notify the site involved and sometimes
the administrators fix the problem quickly (and sometimes the spammer
then opens another account with another stolen credit card number,
so the first fix isn't always final ).

My personal spam blocking list blocks a lot of Yahoo servers because
I keep getting subscribed or automated invitations or confirmations
to subscribe to Yahoo mailing lists I have never heard of before,
sent from Yahoo. Somehow most of them have to do with e-commerce,
marketing, stock tips, or advertising, or they give no indication
of what the list is about. That, of course, has nothing to do with
Spamcop or Airmail, but I can see how someone thinks Yahoo mailing
lists are a spam source.
